Thank you for your interest in the exciting and progressive programs MusicMakers Academy has to offer. MusicMakers is dubbed “the classical music school with a progressive attitude,” because we “think out of the box.” What does this do for our students? Simply, every program is tailored to the individual student. We work with your goals, help you formulate goals if you don’t know what they are yet, and guide you step by step, constructively, towards them.
Unlike music stores and “showcase centers,” an Academy such as MusicMakers means that we are focused on one thing, and one thing only — EDUCATION.
Our association with the Associated Boards of the Royal Schools of Music in Great Britain has allowed us to offer standard music examinations in all instruments and voice, as well as separate theory examinations. We are the only school who is a part of this system in the state of Connecticut. We have had many successes along the way, including being inducted into the Manchester Arts Commission’s Arts Hall of Fame, and being given the Arts in Business and Community Award.
Our students regularly take place in music competitions and festivals, including national and regional solo competitions. Our students become the leads in their school ensembles, first chair on their instruments in orchestra, leads in the musical theater productions, and soloists in choirs.
Our students graduate to go on to study music in universities such as Carnegie Mellon, New England Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Berklee School of Music, Tufts, Brown, Endicott, Simmons, Mt. Holyoke, Amherst, Ucal Berklee, Manhattan Marymount, Manhattanville College, Hartford Conservatory, and Yale (to name a few).
Please take a few moments to read through our website, our pictures, mp3s, videos, etc. Please reach out to me with any questions you may have. If you don’t see something you need, please let me know!
Yours Truly,
Paula Penna, Mmed., Bmus.
